CMS advises automotive supplier MAHLE on acquisition of transmission specialist ZG-Zahnräder und Getriebe

11/01/2019

Stuttgart – Automotive supplier MAHLE has acquired Munich-based transmission specialist ZG-Zahnräder und Getriebe GmbH. MAHLE will use the acquisition to expand its expertise in complete powertrains, with transmissions being a key component. The move gives the Stuttgart-based group access to additional development expertise in this field. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Tobias Schneider advised MAHLE on all legal aspects of the deal. MAHLE is a longstanding CMS client and regularly relies on the law firm’s expertise, such as when acquiring technology start-up O-Flexx Technologies.

ZG-Zahnräder und Getriebe GmbH is a Munich-based service provider for drivetrain technology with special expertise in modern gear technology. The company was established in 2008 as a spin-off from Munich’s technical university and supports car manufacturers and suppliers throughout the entire development process.

MAHLE is headquartered in Stuttgart. It is a leading international development partner and supplier to the automotive industry, with a product portfolio that covers all major aspects of powertrain and air conditioning technology. The group has around 78,000 employees at 170 production sites across more than 30 countries and generated sales of some EUR 12.8 billion in 2017.
