CMS advises Carlyle on acquisition of six specialist mail order firms from the former Arcandor Group

Stuttgart – Private equity investor The Carlyle Group has acquired six specialist mail order firms from the former Arcandor Group. The companies include the Walz mail order business with “Baby Walz” and “Die Moderne Hausfrau”, sports goods and fashion retailer Planet Sports, fashion mail order specialists Bon’A Parte and Elégance, plus furniture and accessories supplier Mirabeau. Carlyle is also acquiring a 50% stake in Vertbaudet Deutschland, a mail order company specialising in babywear and maternitywear. The transaction is currently awaiting approval from the cartel authorities.

An interdisciplinary team led by partners Dr Udo Simmat and Dr Tobias Schneider advised Carlyle on the transaction, focusing particularly on due diligence.
