Düsseldorf – Energieversorgung Beckum GmbH & Co. KG (EVB), a subsidiary of the city of Beckum and Westenergie AG, and E.ON Energy Solutions GmbH have founded Beckumer Batteriespeicher GmbH as a joint venture to build and develop a battery energy storage system in Beckum. With the battery energy storage system, the parties are setting a milestone for the energy transition in the town of Beckum, which the Managing Director of EVB, Dr Daniel Dierich, is driving forward.
A CMS team led by Dr Christoph von Eiff advised EVB comprehensively on the formation and structuring of the joint venture. The advice included drafting the contracts for the legal relationships between the parties involved with regard to planning, construction and operation of the battery energy storage system to secure the supply of renewable energy to the town of Beckum. From a legal perspective, the special aspects relevant to municipal law had to be taken into account for the company under municipal ownership. CMS has been advising EVB for several years. Dr Sonja-Verena Growe, Katharina Dreessen, Felix Fischer and Stefan Grassée were involved in-house for E.ON, and Dr Friederike Müller and Dr Maximilian Hermans for Westenergie. The project was led by Dr Daniel Dierich on behalf of EVB, and Benedikt Richter on behalf of Westenergie.
