CMS advises founding shareholders of medavis Group on sale to Bregal Unternehmerkapital

Frankfurt/Main – Funds advised by Bregal Unternehmerkapital (BU Funds) have acquired a majority stake in the medavis Group, a leading developer of workflow software for radiology services in Germany. Developed and marketed by medavis, the software provides support for the workflows and services in radiology practices, including departments attached to hospitals. The shareholders established medavis more than 25 years ago, together with a partner who has since left the firm. They are making a substantial reinvestment in the company and will also participate via the management stock option programme. They will continue to manage the company as CEOs.

The BU Funds invest in medium-sized companies from a number of sectors in Europe, with a focus on market leaders and “hidden champions” with strong management teams and growth potential. Backed by patient capital, entrepreneurial expertise and a partnership-based approach, the BU team works with portfolio companies to drive forward their development, international expansion and digitalisation, while generating sustainable enterprise value on a responsible basis.

An international CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Hendrik Hirsch advised the medavis Group shareholders on all legal aspects of the sale and reinvestment. The team included CMS lawyers from Luxembourg and Shanghai.
