CMS advises Hydro Aluminium Deutschland on sale of Bonn site to Cube Real Estate

Düsseldorf – Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH has sold its site in Bonn to developer Cube Real Estate. The site covers an area of around 40,000 square metres and is used by Hydro Aluminium Deutschland and the Rolled Products division of Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH, which until recently belonged to the Hydro Group. The site will initially be leased back by Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH and Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH, with the latter operating under the name Speira GmbH in future.

A CMS team headed by relationship partner Shaghayegh Smousavi and project lead partner Philipp Schönnenbeck advised Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH on all legal aspects of selling its Bonn site.

Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH is part of Norway’s Hydro Group, a global aluminium producer headquartered in Oslo. Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH describes itself as a world-leading manufacturer of advanced aluminium rolled products. Its R&D centre is located in Bonn and the company was part of the Hydro Group until the end of May 2021, but was recently sold to KPS Capital Partners and will trade under the name Speira GmbH going forward.

Cube Real Estate GmbH is a medium-sized developer based in Leverkusen. The company is currently developing projects worth around EUR 2 billion. The developer’s focus is on apartments, entire ensembles and land development.
