CMS advises Italian measurement technology specialist Marposs on acquisition of Lehren- und Meßgerätewerk Schmalkalden

Stuttgart – Italian measurement technology specialist Marposs S.p.A. has acquired the long-established Thuringia-based company Lehren- und Meßgerätewerk Schmalkalden GmbH by way of a share deal. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Peter Baisch advised Marposs on all aspects of legal due diligence and on contract design and negotiating the transaction. Marposs is a long-standing CMS client and has repeatedly relied on CMS teams.

Marposs was established in 1952 and is located to the north of Bologna, Italy. The company manufactures both standard and customised systems to measure and check the dimensions, geometries and surface quality of mechanical components and for monitoring machine status. Marposs currently employs just over 3,500 people. It has its own sales and service organisations in 25 countries, with a total of 80 branches worldwide.

Established in 1938, Lehren- und Meßgerätetechnik is based in the Thuringian town of Schmalkalden. The company manufactures and sells precision measuring instruments.
