CMS advises Luxcara on acquisition and financing of wind farm project in Norway

28/03/2017

Hamburg – Hamburg-based Luxcara, an asset manager specialising in renewable energy, has acquired the Egersund onshore wind project in Southern Norway from Norwegian developer Norsk Vind Energi AS. Comprising 33 turbines, the wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 111.2 megawatts and is due to be connected to the grid later in 2017. Luxcara acquired the new project for the portfolio of its renewable energy fund FLAVEO Infrastructure Europe SCS SICAV-FIS – Solar and Wind. The fund portfolio thus now includes solar and wind power projects in Germany, the UK and Scandinavia with total output in excess of 265 megawatts.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Holger Kraft advised Luxcara on all legal aspects of the acquisition, negotiating the project contracts and finance. CMS has been providing support to Luxcara on renewable energy projects throughout Europe for several years.

Luxcara is a leading asset manager specialising exclusively in renewable energy investment for institutional investors. The owner-managed company was founded in May 2009 by managing partners Dr Alexandra von Bernstorff and Kathrin Oechtering. Luxcara currently manages a portfolio of solar and wind power plants in Germany, France, Italy, the UK and Norway with total output of just under 600 megawatts and has assets under management of almost EUR 2.1 billion.
