CMS advises Luxcara on acquisition of 100 MW wind farm project in Finland

Hamburg – Asset manager Luxcara has acquired the Finnish onshore wind farm project Välikangas from the developer, ABO Wind AG. The wind farm in northern Finland has a planned total installed capacity of 100 megawatts and is scheduled to become operational in summer 2020. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Luxcara was supported in the acquisition by a CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Holger Kraft, who advised both on the transaction and on negotiation of the project agreements. The wind farm will be added to a portfolio designed for institutional investors. CMS has been providing support to Luxcara on renewable energy projects throughout Europe for several years, most recently on the acquisition and development of the Bjerkreim onshore wind farm in Norway with a planned output of 263 megawatts, which is due to be connected to the grid at the end of this year.

Luxcara is an independent asset manager that provides institutional investors with investment opportunities in the renewable energy and infrastructure space. The owner-managed company was founded in 2009. Luxcara acquires, structures, finances and operates renewable energy investments and infrastructure projects as a long-term investor, focusing on direct power purchase agreements. Luxcara’s portfolio includes solar and wind power plants in Europe with total output of more than one gigawatt and the company has assets under management in excess of EUR 2.3 billion.
