Hamburg – Asset manager Luxcara has acquired the Bjerkreim onshore wind power project in southern Norway. Bjerkreim consists of three adjacent wind farms with a total of 73 turbines. The total installed capacity of 262.8 megawatts is due to be connected to the grid in 2019. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Luxcara was supported in the acquisition by a CMS team headed by lead partner Holger Kraft, who advised both on the transaction and on negotiation of the project agreements. CMS has been providing support to Luxcara on renewable energy projects throughout Europe for several years, most recently on the acquisition of the Egersund onshore wind farm in Norway, which is due to commence operations this September with a planned output of 111.2 megawatts.
Two of the three wind farms will be added to the portfolio of the company’s third renewable energy fund, FLAVEO Infrastructure Europe SCS SICAV-FIS – Solar and Wind. The portfolio of the institutional fund thus now includes solar and wind power projects in Germany, the UK and Scandinavia with total output in excess of 350 megawatts.
Luxcara specialises exclusively in renewable energy investment for institutional investors. The owner-managed company was founded in May 2009 by sole managing partners Dr Alexandra von Bernstorff and Kathrin Oechtering. Luxcara currently manages a portfolio of solar and wind power plants in Germany, France, Italy, the UK and Scandinavia with total output of over 800 megawatts and has assets under management of EUR 1.2 billion.
