16/09/2011

Amsterdam/Altötting – Tourism company VR meine Reise GmbH has reached an agreement with Thomas Cook Nederland B.V. to acquire Thomas Cook Reisburo Groep B.V. with some 100 travel agencies in the Netherlands. The acquisition is currently awaiting approval from the works council. VR meine Reise GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of VR meine Raiffeisenbank eG, which is headquartered in Altötting-Mühldorf. The Raiffeisen-Tours-Kooperation (rtk) alliance is also part of the VR meine Raiffeisenbank eG group.

Dr Eva Annett Grigoleit and Reinout Slot together with their team advised VR meine Reise GmbH on all aspects of the cross-border transaction.

The acquisition enables the rtk alliance to continue its strategy of international expansion, while Thomas Cook wishes to focus more on its core business as a tour operator.

As the largest travel agency alliance in Germany, the rtk Group currently comprises around 3,700 travel agencies generating total sales of three billion euros.
