CMS advises on major insolvency: sale brings new perspectives for Scherer & Trier Group

16/12/2014

Munich – CMS Hasche Sigle has advised the insolvency administrator in connection with one of the largest bankruptcies of 2014. The firm also provided advice on the associated M&A process to the insolvency administrator, Joachim Exner of Nuremberg-based law firm Beck & Partner. The Scherer & Trier Group was sold to a strategic investor. The transaction with Samvardhana Motherson, an Indian group, offers the prospect of a long-term future for the 2,000 employees of Scherer & Trier.

A team led by lead partner Alexander Ballmann advised on the complex international transaction from the start. Law firm Dr. Beck & Partner has previously instructed CMS with regard to several cases in Germany. Examples in recent years include the sale of the Sellner Group and the Ecka Group.

The Scherer & Trier Group is a leading specialist supplier of interior and exterior plastic components, chiefly serving the automotive industry. The company has locations in Germany and Mexico.
