Berlin – Commercial law firm CMS has started 2018 with nine newly appointed partners from six divisions. “There is a steadily growing need for high-quality, innovative, hands-on legal advice in an increasingly complex market environment,” said Dr Hubertus Kolster, managing partner of CMS in Germany. “We are therefore delighted to be able to further strength our divisions with excellent specialists who have been doing outstanding work within the firm for our clients for many years.”
The areas that CMS is expanding through the new partners include Corporate/M&A, Banking & Finance, Employment, TMC (Technology, Media & Communications), Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property. The appointments affect six out of the eight CMS locations in Germany.
In the latest “Kanzleimonitor” survey, which is conducted annually by the German Federal Association of Corporate Lawyers (BUJ), CMS came first in the overall assessment for the fourth year in a row. This indicates that CMS is the law firm most frequently recommended by heads of in-house legal departments. Dr Hubertus Kolster: “This excellent result shows that in times of a rapidly changing economy, our clients continue to rely on CMS for ongoing advice and help with key strategic issues, together with the many associated challenges and transformation processes.” The firm can again look back on a very successful year with exciting, high-calibre instructions and major awards, he added. “The 2018 partner appointments will allow us to continue along this path and further consolidate the strong market position held by CMS.
The new partners at CMS Germany:
Dr Carolin Armbruster (Corporate/M&A, Stuttgart) started her legal career at CMS in 2007. She advises on national and international M&A transactions and projects, focusing on the energy sector.
Dr Nikolas Gregor (Intellectual Property, Hamburg) joined CMS in 2010. He specialises in intellectual property and competition law, mainly representing lifesciences companies.
Dr Andreas Hofelich (Employment, Cologne) has been with CMS since 2007. He advises companies on all aspects of occupational pension schemes, such as the justification, amendment, closure or transfer of pension schemes.
Dr Michael Kraus (TMC, Stuttgart) joined CMS in 2010. He advises and represents companies in all legal matters relating to IT and data protection, specialising in contract design for IT and outsourcing projects.
Dr Benjamin Lissner (Dispute Resolution, Cologne) became part of the CMS team in 2009. His specialism is national and international arbitration proceedings and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Andrea München (Banking & Finance, Frankfurt) moved to CMS in 2016 and is a specialist in German, Luxembourg and European financial regulation law.
Dr Tilman Niedermaier (Dispute Resolution, Munich) has been a lawyer at CMS since 2010. He represents clients in complex commercial law disputes. His professional focus is on commercial and corporate law as well as international investment protection law.
Dr Igor Stenzel (Corporate/M&A, Berlin) has been with CMS since 2011, advising both strategic investors and private equity investors on all types of M&A transactions.
Dr Tilman Weichert (Corporate/M&A, Munich) joined CMS in 2007 and advises primarily on stock corporation law, capital markets, conversion law and M&A.
