Stuttgart – Atlas Copco AB, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions with a 2014 turnover of EUR 10.3 bn is to acquire FIAC, an Italian manufacturer of piston compressors and related equipment with a global sales network. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2016.
Partner Dr Christian Haellmigk at CMS Hasche Sigle is leading the competition team which advises Atlas Copco. The merger control proceedings in Austria are being handled by a team around Dr Bernt Elsner from CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz.
The Atlas Copco Group with more than 44,000 employees worldwide offers products and services that range from compressors, vacuum solutions and air treatment systems, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems. FIAC is based in Bologna, Italy, and has about 400 employees. The company offers a broad range of piston compressors, air treatment products, and spare parts. Founded in 1977, FIAC has production sites in Italy, China and Brazil, and sells into more than 110 countries. It had revenues in 2014 of about
EUR 70m. FIAC will become part of the new Professional Air division in the Compressor Technique business area that Atlas Copco will create after the completion of the acquisition.
