CMS Hasche Sigle advises Atlas Copco on acquisition of Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum

Stuttgart – Atlas Copco AB, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions with a 2014 turnover of EUR 10.3bn, is to acquire the vacuum business of OC Oerlikon Corporation AG for a total enterprise value of EUR 486m. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.

Partner Dr Christian Haellmigk at CMS Hasche Sigle is leading the competition team which advises Atlas Copco. Haellmigk has advised the Swedish group on many occasions in merger control cases, inter alia on the 2014 acquisition of Edwards Group Ltd., a supplier of vacuum and abatement solutions, with an annual turnover equivalent to approx. EUR 800m.

The Atlas Copco Group with more than 44,000 employees worldwide offers products and services that range from compressors, vacuum solutions and air treatment systems, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems. Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum's vacuum solutions are used to create clean, particle-free environments for such applications as automotive, metallurgy, coating of microchips, and the manufacturing of analytical instruments. In 2014, its turnover amounted to CHF 390m (EUR 358m).
