CMS Hasche Sigle advises banks on EUR 240 million financing for service buildings and car parks at Berlin Brandenburg International airport

04/06/2010

Berlin/Hamburg – The finance for external investment of EUR 240 million relating to service buildings and car parks at the new Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) airport is now in place. Using a leasing format for new construction, Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing (DAL, part of the Deutsche Leasing Group) is enabling construction of four car parks, a car rental and service centre, a building for security staff and three buildings for ground traffic service providers. Completion of the properties is scheduled for autumn 2011.

A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Dr Marc Riede and Axel Dippmann advised Landesbank Berlin and the bank consortium on all aspects of the transaction. The financing was fully subscribed within four weeks.

Landesbank Berlin is acting as consortium manager for the leasing finance. The consortium also comprises DZ Bank, Hamburger Sparkasse, Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse, Nassauische Sparkasse, Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, Investitionsbank Berlin and the InvestitionsBank of the Federal State of Brandenburg.

Construction of the new buildings is part of a wider project to create a new airport for the German capital. Last year, Landesbank Berlin invested EUR 150 million in the overall financing of the airport.
