EnBW Energy Solutions GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, is constructing a state-of-the-art combined heat and power plant with a heat capacity of 150 megawatt (MW), electrical capacity of approx. 30 MW and about 1 million tons of steam in Eisenhüttenstadt. In future the power station will supply energy to the largest paper mill for corrugated base paper in Europe operated by Progroup (Propapier PM2 GmbH).
At costs of around EUR 225 million EnBW will plan, finance, construct and operate the power plant which will utilise the fluidised solids technique. Construction is due to begin in the near future. Approval pursuant to the German Emission Control Act has been given. The power plant will probably commence operation in May 2011.
