Hamburg - Russian timber producer Ilim Timber Industry has acquired two of the largest and most efficient sawmills and planing facilities in Europe, located in Wismar and Landsberg/Bavaria, from the Klausner Group. The transaction involves the acquisition of three companies, along with the site of a former sawmill in Adelebsen/Lower Saxony. The share transfer has been completed. The acquisition will boost Ilim Timber's production capacity and expand its access to major sales markets in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
A cross-border CMS team led by partners Dr Ludwig Linder, Dr Jan Schepke and David Cranfield advised on all aspects of the transaction in conjunction with colleagues from CMS Hasche Sigle, CMS Russia, CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz and CMS von Erlach Henrici.
Ilim Timber is Russia’s leading manufacturer of sawn wood, timber products, plywood and fibreboard. The companies acquired by Ilim Timber employ around 530 people. The sawmills have an output of more than 2 million solid cubic metres a year.
