CMS Hasche Sigle advises insolvency administrator on sale of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik

05/06/2007

The financial investors Strategic Value Partners and Merrill Lynch are assuming W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik from insolvency administrator Siegfried Beck after seven months of insolvency. The traditional and world-renowned producer of figurines, gift items and lifestyle accessories from porcelain and fine earthenware with the strong brand names of Goebel, M.I.Hummel, Rosina Wachtmeister, Artis Orbis, Nina & Marco and Adam & Ziege will now benefit from extensive investment.

Merrill Lynch has been assisting the financing of Goebel since the middle of 2006. Strategic Value Partners is an investment manager with operative experience and a strong financial basis which wants to promote the restructuring of the company jointly with Merrill Lynch. Goebel's business operation will continue unchanged. Part of the concept is the commitment to the current headquarters in Rödental. Details of the purchase price were not disclosed.

CMS Hasche Sigle also advised insolvency administrator Beck during the insolvency of Grundig AG in 2003 on the sale of Autoradio- und Autotechnologietochter Grundig Car InterMedia System GmbH (GCIS) and on the sale of Gossen-Metrawatt group in 2005/2006.
