Berlin – InterContinental Hotels Group will return to the flagship InterContinental Berlin and InterContinental Düsseldorf from 1 June 2011, after finalising agreements on both hotels. The agreements are with Union Investment Real Estate GmbH, which owns the InterContinental Berlin, and DKÖ Objektgesellschaft Königsallee Dr. Herbert Ebertz KG, owner of the InterContinental Düsseldorf.
A CMS Hasche Sigle team advised InterContinental Hotels Group on all legal and tax aspects of this complex transaction.
The InterContinental Berlin has 514 rooms and 63 suites. It has two restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Hugo’s, and is in the heart of Berlin. The InterContinental Düsseldorf has 261 rooms and 26 suites and is located in the city’s main Königsallee shopping area.
An IHG affiliate had managed the two hotels for several years under management agreements with Neue Dorint GmbH, the then lessee. IHG handed the hotels back to Neue Dorint GmbH on 31 March 2011 as a result of a dispute with Neue Dorint.
