Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea's largest utility company, has entered into an agreement with German engineering company Uhde GmbH regarding the formation of a joint venture company. The Korea-based joint venture is intended to use Uhde's PRENFLO® process for the gasification of coal to carry out engineering, licensing and technology development projects. The PRENFLO® technology allows a particularly efficient and accordingly environmentally-friendly use of coal for the generation of electricity and shall be implemented in power plants.
A team of CMS Hasche Sigle attorneys led by Dr Martin Kolbinger has comprehensively advised KEPCO on the German legal aspects related to the joint venture. In this project, CMS Hasche Sigle worked closely with Korean World Law Group partner firm Bae, Kim & Lee.
