An international CMS team under the leadership of Stuttgart partner John Hammond advised the
shareholders of the Russian Impexbank on its takeover by the Austrian Raiffeisen International
Bank-Holding AG. The volume of the transaction, which is still subject to consent from the Russian
Central Bank and the competition authorities in Austria and Russia, is approx. USD 550m.
Impexbank was established in 1993 and focuses on private clients and small and medium-sized
companies, which it advises by means of its national network of approximately 190 offices and 350
branches. Raiffeisen International has been represented in Russia since 1997 by ZAO Raiffeisenbank
Austria. By acquiring Impexbank, Raiffeisen International has become the largest foreign bank group
in Russia.
