CMS Hasche Sigle advises Stadtwerke München and RWE Innogy on solar energy power plant Andasol 3 in Spain

Stuttgart – Stadtwerke München GmbH and RWE Innogy GmbH are building a major solar power plant in Southern Spain together with MAN Ferrostaal AG, RheinEnergie AG and Solar Millennium AG.

An international CMS team led by Dr Jochen Lamb, Dr Holger Kraft and Dr Antje Becker advised both Stadtwerke München GmbH and RWE Innogy GmbH on all aspects of the transaction. They were supported by Spanish partner firm CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo, Madrid.

Stadtwerke München GmbH has taken a 48.9% stake in the project company, Marquesado Solar S.L., while RWE Innogy GmbH and RheinEnergie AG have a 25.1% interest via a joint holding company. The remaining 26% stake remains in the hands of a joint holding company owned by MAN Ferrostaal AG and Solar Millennium AG.

Construction work on the plant has already started. The solar power facility is scheduled to be operational by 2011 and has a capacity of around 50 MW. It will be operated jointly by the project partners. Together with the Andasol 1 and 2 projects, the power plants will have a collector area of 1.5 million square meters (the equivalent of 210 football pitches), making it the largest solar energy site in Europe.
