CMS Hasche Sigle advises Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall on establishment of a municipal utility company in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler

04/08/2010

Stuttgart – The town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler (Rhineland-Palatinate) has established its own new municipal utility company, Ahrtal-Werke GmbH, with the town having a 51% stake in the company. Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall GmbH holds the remaining 49% of the new company. The energy supplier from Schwäbisch Hall was the winner of a bidding process involving several competing companies.

A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Dr Maximilian Grub successfully advised Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall GmbH on all aspects of forming this municipal utility company and the related bidding process.

Ahrtal-Werke GmbH intends to acquire the electricity network in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler from the current franchise operator. According to Ahrtal-Werke GmbH, the new municipal utility company is open to participation by other neighbouring local authorities seeking to re-municipalise their energy supply.
