GENEART AG has successfully completed its IPO coordinated by the WestLB AG. As of today the shares
are available for free trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and are listed under the "Entry
Standard" 'The transaction was supervised by a team of lawyers from the Frankfurt office of CMS
Hasche Sigle led by partner Dr Andreas Zanner (capital markets), Dr Zanner was assisted by Philipp
Melzer and Dr Martin Kniehase (both capital markets) and Dr Rupert Doehner (corporate) and Martin
Beckmann (life sciences).
GENEART is one of the world's leading specialists on the emerging market of synthetic gene
production (gene synthesis). GENEART uses gene synthesis to offer companies from the
pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical industries integrated product systems for developing
innovative medicines, in particular DNA and protein-based therapies and vaccines, and for
identifying improved industrial enzymes.
Despite the current market difficulties GENEART AG's IPO, the first this year from the life
science sector, was well received by investors. The placing price is EUR 27, which is the
equivalent of an emission volume of approx EUR 23.2 million. GENEART AG is valued at around EUR 60
million (post money) on the basis of the placing price. GENEART AG is the first company from the
life science sector to be listed in the Entry Standard.
This is the second time this year that Andreas Zanner's CMS team has advised on an IPO
coordinated by WestLB; the first concerned MBB Industries.
