CMS Hasche Sigle also advises Maxcor on acquisition of Ex-Cell-O group from IWKA AG

28/02/2006

The US company Maxcor Inc., based in New York has taken over the Ex-Cell-O group from IWKA AG. This increases Maxcor's portfolio of providers of automotive production solutions to eleven. A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Dr Jochen Lamb, partner in the Stuttgart office, advised Maxcor on the transaction – as was the case with the acquisition of the Metal Cutting group from ThyssenKrupp a few months ago. Ex-Cell-O, a global manufacturer of machine tools and tooling systems, specialises in production solutions for automotive chassis and drive components. The purchase affects operations in five countries – Germany, USA, UK, France and China. In the 2005 financial year the Ex-Cell-O group generated turnover of approx. USD 190 million. Details of the purchase price were not disclosed.

The purchase is part of Maxcor's overall strategy to create a leading global group of companies for engineering, production and customer service. This transaction boosts the turnover of the Ex-Cell-O group to around USD 1.2 billion. The group now ranks among the top five manufacturers of machine tools worldwide.
