CMS Hasche Sigle assists Maxcor and MAG Industrial Automation Systems on acquisition of the Boehringer group from IWKA AG

MAG Industrial Automation Systems, the US group based in Sterling Heights, Michigan, has now also taken over the Boehringer group from IWKA AG. This takeover, the fourth in the last two years, brings to 16 the number of companies in MAG Industrial Automation Systems' portfolio which provide manufacturing solutions, in particular in the automotive sector. MAG Industrial Automation Systems was advised on the transaction by a team of lawyers from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Stuttgart partner Dr Jochen Lamb. Dr Lamb and his team had already advised on the previous acquisition of the ThyssenKrupp metalcutting group and the Ex-Cell-O-group from the IWKA AG. Boehringer, a supplier of machine tools worldwide, specialises in crankshaft machining. The takeover of the Boehringer group involves several companies in four countries – Germany, the USA, Switzerland and Canada. In the financial year 2005 the Boehringer group generated turnover of approx. USD 140 million. Details of the purchase price were not disclosed.

The acquisition of the Boehringer group forms part of the strategy of MAG Industrial Automation Systems, which was created by Maxcor, Inc. and its CEO Mo Meidar, to create a leading global group of companies in the engineering, production and service sectors. The acquisition of the Boehringer group completes the series of important takeovers, including Cincinnati Lamb in April 2005, ThyssenKrupp Metalcutting group in October 2005 and the Ex-Cell-O-group in February 2006.

Advisers to Maxcor Inc.
