Berlin – The economic downturn has not derailed the development of Cleantech. That is among the key findings of a report entitled “Cleantech: The Impact on Key Sectors in Europe”, commissioned by CMS Hasche Sigle and its partner firms in the CMS organisation from independent consultants Oxford Analytica.
The report highlights the central role that EU regulation is playing in the implementation of Cleantech and shows that the current crisis has hugely increased the economic importance of Cleantech. Managing Partner Cornelius Brandi: “We are on the verge of a global Cleantech revolution that will bring a whole range of challenges for legislators. As fullservice law firms, CMS Hasche Sigle and its CMS partner firms are very familiar with environmental technology issues and able to provide tailored legal services. We have been successfully advising clients in the business sectors affected for many years, aided by our industry knowledge and pragmatic approach.”
Dr. Holger Kraft, partner at CMS Hasche Sigle and energy law expert, notes: “Cleantech is the beginning of something similar to the IT revolution. Companies that embrace the growth potential of this development can gain a substantial competitive advantage.”
Kraft goes on: “Cleantech is about far more than renewable energy and sustainability. Environmental technology has been a key issue for the energy sector for many years, it is now becoming increasingly important in all other industry sectors. The report provides powerful evidence of an accelerating trend.”
CMS Hasche Sigle is an established leader in the renewable energy field. The CMS organisation has set up pan-European teams that specialise in renewable energy, while also being among the first to cover the development of other Cleantech areas. Examples include waste to energy, carbon capture & storage, and smart metering.
Managing Partner Cornelius Brandi: “Even in times of economic uncertainty, Cleantech offers enormous growth opportunities for innovative businesses. With the benefit of our pan-European viewpoint, we are closely monitoring the latest legal developments and can offer our clients bespoke solutions that are fully adapted to their specific commercial and corporate needs.”
