Frankfurt – CMS Hasche Sigle is expanding its expertise in the field of investment funds by appointing Dr Daniel Voigt as partner with effect from 1 June 2013. The law firm is also bringing together its advisory services in this area in a new Asset Management, Funds & Capital Investment Law section within the Banking & Finance practice headed jointly by Dr Markus M. Pfaff and Dr Thomas de la Motte.
"We are delighted that Mr Voigt is joining us. As a fund specialist, he will play a pivotal role in reinforcing the team," said Dr Hubertus Kolster, managing partner of CMS Hasche Sigle. The partnership is pursuing a strategic goal of advising even more extensively in the asset management field, he added, with another lateral hire at partner level set to join the practice in the coming months, focusing on investment tax law. Much greater regulation of the fund industry is boosting the need for advice among asset managers, funds, their service providers and investors, said Kolster. Germany’s new Capital Investment Code, which is expected to come into force in July 2013, is an additional factor. The new legislation is intended to provide harmonised regulation of the country’s asset management sector. "Adding Dr Voigt to the team will enable us to meet our clients' requirement for comprehensive advice in this rapidly changing field," said Dr Markus M. Pfaff.
Dr Daniel Voigt has specialised in advising on asset management, funds and capital investment law. He has particularly broad expertise in fund products, extending from open-ended and closed-ended funds through retail products to funds for institutional investors. Regulatory matters – an increasingly important area – are a core focus of his work.
The 36-year-old began his career as a lawyer in 2006 at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and was most recently managing associate at Linklaters.
