Recognition for thesis: CMS Hasche Sigle Prize awarded to outstanding law student

06/11/2009

Münster – CMS Hasche Sigle today awarded the CMS Hasche Sigle Prize to law student Daniel Meier at the University of Münster's Law Faculty. This prize for young lawyers carries a cash sum of 5,000 euros and recognises the exceptional quality of Daniel Meier's thesis. His subject was 'The collateralisation of acquisition finance in the leveraged buy-out of a private limited company (GmbH). Liability risk and risk reduction strategies in the context of the Act to Modernise the Law Governing Private Limited Companies and to Combat Abuses (MoMiG) and the Trihotel judgement'. He scored a double success, also receiving the second Harry Westermann Prize at the Faculty's graduation ceremony on the same day.

"The CMS Hasche Sigle Prize was first awarded in 2003 to recognise the work of young lawyers in the field of corporate and business law. Daniel Meier is an excellent choice," said Dr Hildegard Ziemons, CMS Hasche Sigle partner, at the evening prize giving ceremony. "His thesis is particularly worthy of the prize since it meets very high standards in terms of topicality and the clear, profound treatment of the subject matter."

The prize is intended to benefit individual prize winners while at the same time encouraging further academic study in this area of law.
