Stuttgart – The acquisition of SEB Asset Management AG (SEBAM) by London-listed Savills plc, which was agreed in March, has now been completed. The competition and regulatory authorities have approved the transaction. SEBAM is one of Germany’s leading real estate asset managers and belongs to Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (SEB AB) of Sweden. Going forward, SEBAM’s activities will be merged with the Savills Group’s existing asset management business, which is handled by Savills Investment Management.
An international CMS team headed by lead partners Dr Claus-Peter Fabian and Dr Daniel Voigt advised the global Savills Group on all aspects of the transaction. The focus was on the special features of the funds managed by SEBAM and the carve-out of SEBAM from the SEB Group. The Savills Group, which is represented in Germany by Savills Investment Management, has been a CMS client since 2006. Over that period, the specialist provider of property sector services has been successfully advised by the CMS team on various real estate acquisitions, including both purchases and sales, as well as on financing transactions with a total value of over EUR 400 million. CMS also provides asset management advice on an ongoing basis.
