Start of comprehensive ESG initiative: CMS advises NORD Holding on investment in ESG software pioneer VERSO

Cologne – NORD Holding, a leading German private equity and asset management company, is embracing the mega topic of ESG and setting priorities accordingly, both internally and on the portfolio side. As the first step in a comprehensive ESG initiative, NORD Holding is investing in ESG software pioneer VERSO, which supports medium-sized enterprises around sustainability management through its software solution and services. VERSO also successfully offers various consulting and training products. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Klaus Jäger advised NORD Holding on all legal aspects of the transaction. NORD Holding is a longstanding CMS client and relies on the expertise of Klaus Jäger and his team on a regular basis. Recent examples include expansion of the Public Cloud Group through its acquisition of SAP specialist LNW-Soft, and the complex sale of heating and air-con specialist BOCK to Danish company Danfoss Group.

By taking an equity interest in VERSO, NORD Holding is investing in one of the few established ESG software solutions and a full service provider of corporate sustainability programmes with many years of experience. NORD Holding intends to roll out the software solution across its 15 portfolio companies, thus setting standards for sustainable corporate governance. Working with VERSO, NORD Holding is aiming to make a significant contribution to its own portfolio on the operations side, while also benefiting on the investment side from the huge surge in demand in the sustainability segment.
