Strategic new appointment for Energy practice: CMS Hasche Sigle gains regulatory expert from E.ON

Düsseldorf – Regulatory expert Dr Friedrich von Burchard is reinforcing the Energy practice at CMS Hasche Sigle, starting in October. Friedrich von Burchard held a senior position in the E.ON Group until the summer of 2012, serving as senior vice president of regulatory management at E.ON Ruhrgas AG from 2008.

As head of department at Ruhrgas AG, Dr von Burchard initially dealt with issues of European law and was head of department for exploration and production from 1993 to 2000. This was followed by positions at E.ON Ruhrgas AG as section head for core gas transport issues and as senior vice president of regulatory management at E.ON AG. Going forward, the 55-year-old will join CMS Hasche Sigle's Düsseldorf office as a lawyer and of counsel. This represents a further step in the expansion of the firm’s high-profile Energy practice.

Friedrich von Burchard has extensive experience in the energy sector, notably relating to network regulation, energy law and energy policy. He has for many years been chairman of the negotiating delegation of the associations representing the German gas industry – the BDEW, VKU and GEODE. The delegation represents the industry's interests vis-à-vis the German federal government, regulatory authorities and market partners. It also draws up the market rules for gas (cooperation agreements). Friedrich von Burchard will continue to perform this role.
