Successful insolvency administration: CMS Hasche Sigle brings Swets and Schweitzer Fachinformationen together

17/10/2014

Frankfurt/Main – Swets Information Services in Germany and Schweitzer Fachinformationen have today agreed a partnership arrangement, based on a service agreement. The international Swets Group became insolvent in September of this year.

CMS partner Joachim Kühne was appointed provisional insolvency administrator for Frankfurt-based Swets Information Services GmbH a week ago by the competent insolvency court in Frankfurt/Main. Right from the start, the aim of the insolvency team under his leadership was to secure an arrangement by which operations could continue and customer relationships be maintained. "This collaboration with a strong performer like Schweitzer Fachinformationen means that Swets Deutschland has very quickly found the perfect partner. The partnership enables jobs to be secured and long-term customer relationships to be maintained," said Joachim Kühne.

The ongoing business operations of Swets Deutschland will be maintained until the end of November 2014, after which Schweitzer Fachinformationen will continue the business. This will ensure that the supply chain remains uninterrupted for customers.

Schweitzer Fachinformation, a subsidiary of C.H. Beck publishing group, is a leading provider of specialist literature and information for companies, libraries, law firms, administrative bodies and public authorities. The company has more than 600 employees at 34 locations.

Information service provider Swets (Swets & Zeitlinger Group B.V.) is based in the Dutch town of Leiden. At the end of September it filed for insolvency, which also affected the German subsidiary, Swets Information Services. Swets provides information and subscription management services for professional and academic libraries in 160 countries.
