Andreas Schwab specialises in European law, competition law and EU state aid regulations. He joined CMS in Berlin as of counsel in 2010.

Born in 1973, Andreas took up his law studies at the University of Freiburg in 1993 and from 1995 to 1996 studied politics and economics at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (I.E.P.) in Paris. He passed his first state examination in law in Germany in 1999 and following that, in 2000 completed his LL.M. at the University of Wales. He then spent his German trainee lawyer period with Rottweil Regional Court and the Office for European Affairs of Baden-Württemberg‘s Ministry of State.

In 2002, he completed his PhD at the University of Freiburg, followed by his second state examination in law in 2003 with a focus on European law. He then worked for Baden-Württemberg‘s Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sport in Stuttgart in an executive position and was admitted as a lawyer in 2004.

In recent years, Andreas has published articles on public procurement law as well as on EU and competition law. He also teaches at the University of Düsseldorf.
