With a focus on complex energy disputes, Cosima Gräfin von Rechteren advises and represents German and international clients in proceedings before German courts as well as in national and international arbitration proceedings. She further specialises in general commercial litigation, frequently of an international nature.

Cosima started her legal career in 2008 at Allen & Overy in Frankfurt before moving on to Bär & Karrer AG, an internationally operating law firm in Zürich, where she worked from 2010 to 2016. She joined CMS in 2017 as a counsel.

  • Representing EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (publicly traded electric utilities company) in the dispute regarding the ownership of high voltage and high pressure grids in Stuttgart
  • Representing EnBW in the dispute with the City of Stuttgart about ownership and value of the water network in Stuttgart
  • Representing a German energy supplier in a post-M&A dispute before the District Court of Zurich, Switzerland
  • Representing a major Austrian bank before the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland against an action for payment (volume: EUR 250 million)
  • Advising a major Swiss pension fund on asserting claims for damages against a former consultant (volume: CHF 500 million)
  • Representing a major German bank in disputes regarding investor rights
  • Representing a major German bank in a high-volume claim brought forward by an insolvency administrator in the context of equity compensation law matters
