John Hammond specialises in international M&A transactions and joint ventures. He advises major German and international companies on cross-border deals as well as on dispute resolution. He has long-standing experience advising on international projects, in particular in the UK, Russia and CEE countries. His industry expertise includes start-ups, oil and gas, TMC and the real estate sector.
John has advised sellers as well as buyers on a number of start-up exits. His clients benefit in particular from his international background and language skills and he is one of the few English transaction lawyers who is fluent in German.
John qualified as a lawyer in England in 1987 and then worked with Lovells in London and Hong Kong. He joined CMS in 1989 and was made partner in 1995. John worked in our Moscow office from 1995 to 2002 and again from 2008 to 2013. He qualified as a German lawyer in 2006.
