Shaghayegh Smousavi’s practice has a focus on M&A and cross-border transactions. She has long-standing experience in the energy and infrastructure sector, advising utilities, investors, banks and industrial companies on all areas of energy law and on financing of regulated assets. Shaghayegh is one of the recommended energy lawyers in Germany. Alongside her advisory work, Shaghayegh regularly represents her clients before the Federal Court of Justice and various Higher Regional Courts as well as in proceedings with authorities in Germany and abroad. She also has special country expertise in assisting international companies with business operations in Iran.


Shaghayegh started her career with an international accounting firm in Frankfurt and Paris in 2000 and has been working for a tax consultancy firm in Niamey (Niger) and the European Commission in Brussels as well as in a leading international law firm before joining CMS as a partner.
