CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo (CMS Spain) continues to strengthen its key practice areas with the appointment of Guillermo Muñoz-Alonso as Head of the firm's Financial Markets & Services department.

Covering the areas of bank financing, regulation and structured products, the team is also set to benefit from the arrival of two new lawyers specialising in banking law, both of whom will join from international firms. The team will work closely on FinTech and Payment services with the newly-created Insurance, Reinsurance and Innovation department led by Jaime Bofill.

Guillermo specialises in advising financial institutions, as well as private equity and investment funds. His distinguished career includes heading up the M&A practice at Ramón y Cajal and over 15 years at Garrigues, 10 of which he spent as partner with a focus on private equity, debt restructuring, bank financing and capital markets. He also had a major hand in the growth of Garrigues' London-based office.

Admitted to the bar in Spain and England & Wales, Guillermo is a Graduate of Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and holds a Degree in EU Law from Colegio Universitario de San Pablo CEU. This latest appointment adds to those recently announced by the firm, including the aforementioned Jaime Bofill and his team to create a new Insurance, Reinsurance and Innovation practice, as well as the capture of Alfonso Codes as Partner of Public Law.

According to CMS Spain Managing Partner César Albiñana: "We continue to follow our growth strategy aimed at attracting the best talent to strengthen key practice areas. Guiller-mo's international profile fits seamlessly with ours and his lengthy track record will enable us to keep expanding the services we provide to clients in this area, not to mention boosting our presence in the private equity market. A very warm welcome from all of us".
