CMS appoints Jaime Bofill to lead its new Insurance, Reinsurance & Innovation practice

Madrid, 29 June 2020 

CMS has appointed Jaime Bofill to head up its newly-created Insurance, Reinsurance and Innovation department. 

Jaime Bofill specialises in insurance and reinsurance, as well as the emerging areas of FinTech and InsurTech. To date, his lengthy career has been spent at Davies Arnold Cooper and Hogan Lovells, joining the latter in 2009 and being named partner there in 2018.  

Jaime advises a large number of insurers on corporate transactions, business reorganisations, insurance and reinsurance distribution and the analysis of policy coverage and scope, as well as having had a hand in countless cross-border operations. What's more, he is an expert on regulatory matters and dealings with the Directorate-General for Insurance and Pension Funds (Spanish acronym: DGSFP), and has represented a vast number of insurers in dispute-related proceedings.  

In recent years he has built a formidable reputation for his work in the areas of FinTech and InsurTech, boasting extensive regulatory experience and expertise in relationships with the financial authorities through involvement in numerous procedures with the Bank of Spain and Spanish Stock Market Regulator (CNMV) concerning all types of licences, innovative aspects such as PSD2 and the creation of a sandbox in Spain. 

Jaime is a Graduate of Law from Universidad de Navarra and holds an LL.M from the Instituto de Empresa (Business Institute).  

He is ranked among the leading lawyers in the areas of insurance, reinsurance and FinTech by Chambers & Partners, Who's Who Legal and Best Lawyers.
