If there is no agreement on the conditions of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, it will no longer have access to the EU internal market.
This situation is problematic for people, goods, services and capital, whose circulation will now be subject to specific formalities. The agreement governing future relations between the UK and the EU is supposed to resolve this issue. Until now, however, access to the EU internal market by third countries and the right to benefit from the four freedoms have always been subject to compliance with the EU’s related policies (competition, transport, energy, labour law and consumer protection), which the UK does not seem willing to accept at this stage.
