In the first section of our webinar we will highlight some of the key employment law reforms and other developments which are on the horizon, focussing particularly on the Employment Bill. As a result of Brexit and Covid-19, specific implementation dates are yet to be fixed. Our aim is to share what should be on your organisation’s project planner for 2021.
However one upcoming change which is confirmed for next year is the reforms to the off payroll working rules (IR35) for the private sector. After their last minute delay, the reforms are back on the agenda, and will become a reality for employers from April 2021. They will introduce a significant shift in the tax risk for end user clients and potentially lead to increased costs. We will look at the some of the practical issues that organisations will encounter engaging contractors in this way, and the steps they should be taking now to prepare for the changes. This will be essential listening for those whose IR35 projects were put on hold in the spring, and also for those who would benefit from a reminder of the key issues. We will also cover the most recent updates that have been made to the guidance and underlying legislation and share what we learned from preparing for the change last time round.
