Islamophobia in the Workplace

CMS Muslim Network - Islamophobia Awareness Month

Past event
29 November 2021, 17:00 - 18:00 UTC +01:00

In honour of Islamophobia Awareness Month, the CMS Muslim Network is hosting an event to address Islamophobia in the workplace.

We are very excited to host Shaykh Ruzwan Mohammed, an Islamic theologian and scholar, to speak on this subject. He is a regular panellist on shows such as BBC One’s “The Big Questions” and BBC Radio 4’s religious analysis programmes. He was also responsible for drafting the “Edinburgh Declaration”, launched in 2018, on the shared ethical values between Christianity and Islam in the area of finance and wealth creation.

Topics will include defining Islamophobia, why Islamophobia is an issue, how Muslims should respond to such discrimination in light of teachings from the Qur’an and the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the extent to which the UK Equality Act 2010 protects against Islamophobia in the workplace. To speak on that topic we are pleased to be joined by Catherine Taylor, a partner in our Employment team.

Monday 29th November 2021| 5 - 6 pm GMT
