Risk Essentials: Reputation Management in Scotland Webinar

Past event
19 June 2020, 12:30 - 13:30 UTC +00:00

While building a good reputation is often a long-term process, acquiring a bad reputation can happen in an instant.  In the words of Warren Buffett, “it takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it”.  When crisis strikes, how can you weather the storm and manage your reputation, in the modern media environment in Scotland?

Graeme MacLeod and Emma Boffey work within CMS Scotland’s Band 1 ranked litigation team, specialising in dispute resolution and dispute avoidance.  They have particular experience in reputation management matters, including addressing defamation in traditional and social media, data protection, privacy and freedom of expression.

In this session, we will cover:

  • Recent developments in defamation in Scotland, including the proposed Defamation and Malicious Publications (Scotland) Bill and recent cases before the Scottish courts;
  • Lessons learned from dealing with current social media and press issues; and
  • Crisis management techniques.
