Cathy Pitt named as workplace mental health role model in The Sunday Times

18 March 2019

International law firm CMS is pleased to announce that partner Cathy Pitt has been recognised as a workplace mental health role model in the inaugural InsideOut LeaderBoard established by mental health action group InsideOut, led by Rob Stephenson, as referred to in The Sunday Times.

The list has been devised to help smash the stigma surrounding mental ill-health in the workplace and to recognise business leaders who are open about their own personal battles and who are active role models and mentors for mental health issues. Individuals on the list, including senior leaders from Cicero, Deloitte, HSBC, PwC, LandSec, Three, Liberty Specialty Markets and Unilever, were selected by InsideOut on the basis of nominations taken from across the spectrum of business sectors.

Cathy Pitt is a prominent role model and spokesperson on mental health issues at CMS, and supports the firm in its unwavering commitment to raising awareness of wellbeing and mental health. As part of Mental Health Awareness week and in support of the Lord Mayor of the City of London’s campaign, Cathy participated in CMS’ own “This is Me” video, featuring 11 CMS employees who shared their experiences of mental health and illness.

Commenting on the list Cathy Pitt says: “Being included in the inaugural InsideOut Leaderboard is a terrific honour. CMS is committed to supporting colleagues’ wellbeing and to creating an open culture for speaking out about Mental Health. I hope that by speaking openly about my own issues, I have made it a bit easier for others to do so.”

The 2019 InsideOut LeaderBoard will be launched at Liberty Specialty Markets on Wednesday 20 March to an audience of business leaders and invited press. The evening will feature a keynote from Stephenson, a moderated panel discussion with a number of those featured on the LeaderBoard, and an advocacy award presented for the role model who has had the most significant impact in their organisation or wider society in terms of creating a mentally healthier workplace. The CMS workplace choir, The Loose Cannons, will be singing at the event.
