Charles Kerrigan named in The Lawyer Hot 100 2022

CMS partner Charles Kerrigan has been named in The Lawyer’s 2022 Hot 100 list, a roster of standout UK lawyers over the past year who have been deemed the most daring, innovative and creative from across in-house, private practice and the Bar.

Charles has been recognised by The Lawyer as a leading authority on fintech and for his role helping to found and develop CMS’s crypto practice. Since its launch in 2019, it has become one of firm’s fastest-growing practices – reflecting the booming crypto market, now worth $3trn. 

The report notes that Charles provides growing start-ups relating to smart contracts and bitcoin with corporate advice on their expansion. As these start-ups are often led by young computer scientists, they need lawyers who can speak their language. To meet this need, CMS’s 10-lawyer crypto practice has grown through the hire of specialist in-house lawyers as well as Erica Stanford, the CEO of a crypto networking hub. 

The practice serves more than 100 clients, including hedge funds and blockchain investment funds, merchant bank Greengage, digital asset custodian copper.co, and Binance, the largest crypto exchange.
