4 March 2020

International law firm CMS has acted for the shareholders of high-end independent contract catering company Vacherin Ltd on its sale to Equistone backed CH&Co.

Vacherin is a modern and progressive hospitality provider that specialises in catering to high-profile businesses in central London including law firms, investment banks and insurance companies amongst others.  Created in 2003 by the founding shareholders Clive Hetherington and Mark Philpott, the acquisition draws to an end two celebrated careers for Clive and Mark as their fellow shareholder Phil Roker stays on to remain at the helm of the business.

Head of Leisure and corporate partner at CMS, David Roberts said: “Vacherin is a beautiful business with an impressive list of corporate clients and an exceptional pipeline.  CH&Co have made a very shrewd purchase indeed.  Moreover, Clive, Mark and Phil were a dream to work with and built a great corporate culture at Vacherin.”

Co-Founder Clive Hetherington said of the sale: “We were recommended to talk to David and CMS by our corporate finance advisers who suggested he was one of the leading corporate lawyers in the sector and were very pleased to ultimately appoint him and work with his team, who really looked after us and our interests on this key deal.”

The CMS team was led by corporate partner David Roberts with lead corporate associate Anna Spichenko and corporate trainee James Highfield. Additional support was provided by Graham Chase and Tim Dobbing (tax) and Anthony Hollands (employment).

CMS has done multiple deals in the contract catering and flight catering industry which falls within the firm’s very active leisure industry sector.
