CMS’ Athena Project showcases at Birkbeck

11/05/2015

CMS is proud to announce that its ground-breaking exhibition, the Athena Project, is being showcased at Birbeck School of Law from 8 to 23 May.

The gender diversity project profiles leading women across law, business and politics. Through the medium of striking, contextualised portraiture, this exhibition champions women who have succeeded in a variety of ways in a profession where women remain significantly unrepresented in senior roles.

Daniel Winterfeldt, CMS’ Head of International Capital Markets and Diversity & Inclusion Partner, said:” At CMS diversity and inclusion are central to our business strategy, we believe that an inclusive environment and a diverse workforce are key to having a successful business. We understand the importance of role models, mentors and sponsors and the Athena project emerged as a way to highlight some inspirational women.”

He adds: “With the support of Birkbeck, we are very proud to showcase portraits of some truly pioneering women from across the City.”

Penelope Warne, Senior Partner at CMS has championed the pioneering approach taken to diversity and inclusion at the firm. She is one of the senior role models profiled in the exhibition and she attended the opening night of the exhibition at Birkbeck on Friday evening.

Penelope comments, “The Athena Project has provided a marvellous opportunity for CMS to work in partnership with our clients and partners in showcasing the incredible of achievements of senior women in the business community. The women tell their inspirational stories to a wide range of audiences and we hope that through the latest exhibition at Birkbeck, they will inspire young women to follow in their footsteps to achieve their goals and ambitions.”
