CMS bolsters Employee Incentives team with partner hire in London

1 June 2022

International law firm CMS is strengthening its market leading Employee Incentives practice with the addition of new partner, Jaspal Pachu, who joins the firm in London. Jaspal’s recruitment will take the UK partner headcount to 4, making it one of the largest employee incentives practices in the UK.

Jaspal has significant experience of advising on cross-border tax and incentives matters, private equity transactions, employee ownership trusts and comes to CMS with a broad corporate tax background.

Andrew Quayle, Head of the Employee Incentives practice at CMS UK, comments: “We are very excited to welcome Jaspal to the team. With his broad corporate tax background and focus on cross-border and private equity transactions, we believe there are many opportunities for Jaspal to develop his practice at CMS. Jaspal is also very passionate about D&I initiatives and the mentoring of associate talent, which is very much at the centre of the team’s culture and values.”

Jaspal comments: “I am delighted to be joining the highly-regarded Employee Incentives team at CMS, which offers me a leading global platform, with the requisite depth and breadth, to best service my clients’ needs. I look forward to continuing to build the practice with Andy Quayle, Cathy Merry, Graham Muir and the rest of the team and am incredibly excited about the ambitions and culture of both the team and firm.”

Jaspal joins CMS from Freeths, where he was a partner in the Corporate Tax team for a number of years. Previously Jaspal was a senior member of the Tax team at Norton Rose Fulbright where he spent a number of months on secondment to British International Investment (formerly CDC Group Plc) in 2018. Jaspal has sat on the tax committee of Share Plan Lawyers Group since 2020.
