CMS Dubai partner relocates to Singapore to join APAC Infrastructure, Construction and Energy disputes team

18/07/2017

International law firm CMS is pleased to announce that partner Jeremie Witt has been appointed to join its Infrastructure, Construction and Energy (ICE) disputes team in Singapore. He will lead the three person ICE disputes team in Singapore (while retaining the support of his existing team in Dubai), advising clients on contentious matters across the sector and across APAC. The team is specialised in high-value, technically complex matters often across multiple jurisdictions in all forms of dispute avoidance and resolution.

Jeremie is admitted in England and Wales, and Australia and holds Part II appearance rights with the DIFC Courts in Dubai. Jeremie is a highly experienced advocate in complex disputes and has significant experience as an advocate before courts and arbitral tribunals. Jeremie joined CMS in Dubai in 2014 and advises on contentious and non-contentious construction, energy and infrastructure matters. He acts for purchasers, suppliers and consultants with a focus on disputes in the MENA and APAC regions. Jeremie has practiced in the Middle East for over six years and in the APAC region for over five years. Jeremie will continue to service his strong Middle Eastern practice from his base in Singapore.

Andrew Stott, the managing partner of CMS Singapore commented: “We are delighted to have Jeremie join the regional APAC disputes team; with three partners in Singapore and working with colleagues in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing we now have real strength in depth in this key practice area which has grown year on year consistently. Jeremie also brings a great link to the wider CMS network and the Middle East, a region in which the Singapore team have been working for some time with APAC and international clients, and we are pleased to be better able to serve those clients through our Dubai and other Middle East offices.”

Commenting on his move, Jeremie Witt says: “The APAC region is of key strategic importance for the firm and for our clients. Our ICE disputes practice has experienced significant growth in recent years and now boasts over 60 lawyers worldwide with significant experience in assisting clients in avoiding and managing disputes on complex projects. Having a presence in Singapore will ensure that we can continue to meet our clients growing needs across the ICE sector.”

CMS has been developing its Asia Pacific offering with Hong Kong opening its doors in September 2016 and most recently adding an office in Singapore through its combination with Nabarro and Olswang in May 2017. The 28-lawyer office now advises clients across Construction, Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Energy, Funds, Infrastructure, Projects, Public Policy and Technology, Media and Telecoms.
