CMS strengthens Financial Services Team with hire of Robert Dedman

12/12/2022

International law firm CMS has boosted its Financial Services & Products Team with the hire of partner Robert Dedman. Robert will be based in London and will specialise in contentious regulatory matters.

Robert’s experience includes acting for banks (wholesale and retail), investment banks, insurers, asset managers and working with insurance and consumer credit brokers (including in the motor industry).  He helps clients across the industry respond to significant issues arising in their businesses, including conducting internal investigations and reviews, managing relationships with regulators and representing firms and individuals dealing with regulatory investigations.  He is routinely called upon to advise clients on the extent to which their governance and compliance arrangements reflect regulatory expectations and industry best practice.

Robert has held positions at the Financial Services Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority, where he was the regulator’s first Head of Enforcement. He joins CMS from King & Spalding.

Robert’s appointment is the third senior appointment in the Financial Services & Products Team in the past few months. It follows the hire of Chris Glennie who joined last November from the Bank of England and James Geer who joined in September from Sackers.

Ash Saluja, Head of Financial Services & Products at CMS said: “I am delighted to welcome Rob to the team. His experience and expertise will continue to strengthen our practice and, during these challenging times for the Financial Services sector particularly post Brexit, brings increased value to our clients.”

Robert added: “I am thrilled to join the CMS team and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues, both here and across the wider CMS network, to support our financial services clients.”
